Hi, I’m Melissa.
I was born and raised in Alaska where the seasons and the vastness of the landscape shaped me into the person I am today. Growing up in such a wild and rugged place nurtured my love of exploration, a deep appreciation for nature, and a gentle curiosity about the world around me. I feel most at home outdoors and spend as much time as I can in the mountains and forests of both Colorado and Alaska. I’ve always felt drawn to exploring, and for a period of my life I spent months living out of a backpack, learning from people and cultures around the world.
My experiences meeting people from different cultures and walks of life have deepened my awe at the resilience of the human spirit. Listening to stories from around the world has reminded me that no matter where we come from, we all carry a longing to be understood, to belong, and to live in alignment with our truest selves. There’s something unifying and humbling about recognizing our shared humanity across different landscapes and traditions.
I previously worked in early childhood education, where I saw how our earliest experiences shape the ways we see ourselves and relate to the world. Children have an innate wisdom, creativity, and capacity for joy that I believe lives within each of us, even if it’s been buried by pain or time. Much of my work centers on gently reconnecting with those younger parts of ourselves that are still yearning for understanding and care. My background in education informs my approach to therapy: curious, patient, and holding respect for your inner world.
From my own suffering, lived experiences, and belief in our capacity to heal I walk alongside others to untangle old stories, reconnect with inner strength, and rediscover new ways of being. I welcome open conversations about identity, culture, privilege, and how personal and collective histories shape who we are. My hope is that our work together feels like a gentle invitation to slow down and come home to yourself.
My Approach & Philosophy
Being human means facing moments of struggle, uncertainty, and pain. Feelings of anxiety, sadness, or overwhelm are not signs of weakness, but gentle signals guiding us toward what needs care, compassion, and attention. These moments can become invitations to pause, listen inwardly, and move toward healing.
I take an eclectic, holistic approach to therapy, honoring the whole person- mind, body, and spirit and tailor our work to your unique needs and experiences. Grounded in a humanistic perspective, I view you as the expert of your own life. My role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and care, helping you deepen your understanding of yourself and reconnect with your inner wisdom.
I see therapy as a collaborative journey a safe and nurturing space to explore your story, honor your experiences, and tend to the parts of you that long to be seen and understood. Healing is not about “fixing” yourself but about coming home to yourself. Together, we’ll explore the places you feel stuck, cultivate compassion for your inner world, and move toward a life that feels authentic, grounded, and meaningful.
